paper bags do totally leak. i know from experience...
i stopped at a gas station once to grab a PLASTIC bag when i was feeling sick. never got to use it. puked in the parking lot.
I have a bucket in my van I use as a trash can. Last week I was driving home hungover and I was on the freeway and right as I turned onto the off ramp I started to puke. There is nowhere to pull over on an off ramp. When I finished throwing up all I could think about was how happy I was that I had decided to put a trash can I my car. Also my kids where impressed.
I usually use a plastic starbucks cup, then throw it away the next chance I have to stop. This way it can sit in your cupholder rather than sloshing around in a bag that takes on the shape of the vomit.
I've thrown up in a plastic bag. My stomach acid ate right through the bag... it was like throwing up into nothing! That is why you would choose paper.
I've had to puke plenty of times while driving and I've always made it to the side of the road. Guess it depeds where you are though - I suppose it would be hard to pull over when you're on the freeway or something.
I don't think it would break. Paper bags are pretty thick, and if they're good enough to hold heavy groceries or lunches, they'd be strong enough to hold some puke for a few miles till she gets to a garbage, haha.
Why would you choose a plastic bag? Grocery bags usually have lil holes in the bottom and probably would leak and/or would be hard to hold open. Paper would stay open pretty easily and probably not make quite as much of a mess.
